I have described myself this way many times… in fact it is much better than saying something like “I am a hot mess!”, and it is not necessarily intended to be a negative statement, but just acknowledging that there is ‘room for improvement.’
When we call ourselves ‘A Work in Progress’, we are implying that we just aren’t “there” yet… this can get tricky, as then we can become focused on what we are currently lacking or need to change.
This phrase subtly cultivates self-criticism and self-judgment. We create a focus that is ‘finding all of our flaws, so we can fix them’ This means we are giving our energy and attention to what we do not want – under the Law of Attraction this means we are manifesting more ‘flaws to fix’!
What if you are already perfect??? “What?” you say, “I have LOTS of room for improvement!” That is not the point… we are living beings, constantly changing, growing and evolving – moving towards our potential – just like all other aspects of Nature.
Would you not say that a rosebud is perfect? But wait, it hasn’t shown us all its beauty yet…. but doesn’t its potential beauty make it even MORE beautiful? What about ourselves? Can’t the unexpressed potential within us make us even more beautiful (and therefore perfect) just as we are now? Isn’t an innocent child perfect as she is?
How would it feel to not be weighed down by self -judgment? How would it feel to not have the pressure to do more, do better, reach further? How would it feel to simply relax in your own skin and enjoy each moment?
Some of you might fear that if you didn’t push yourself you would just become lazy, complacent and unmotivated… What if that just simply isn’t true? What if instead, you began to feel lighter, noticed more beauty in your environment, and daydreamed more? And what might those daydreams inspire you to??
It isn’t easy to change a habitual way of viewing ourselves, but if you are open to considering another point of view, that you are ALREADY perfect, and still have more evolution and expansion ahead…. You might be kinder and happier with yourself and others! Just sayin…
