I used to go to extremes to avoid experiencing Fear as well as other uncomfortable feelings. Sometimes I would avoid the situation that I thought generated the fear (like speaking in public, or telling the truth if I felt I would be negatively judged.) Other times, I would choose denial and do what I could to avoid the feeling, or distract myself. In fact, for many people who struggle with addiction, it is often fueled by their resistance to the feelings they have.
Hidden Treasure Deep in our Subconscious
So, what can we do? During an Intuitive Session in London recently with my fellow Reiki Master and friend, Mamta Nanda, she asked about fear. What came through was some great wisdom from our Higher Selves –
“Fear is just the opposite side of Empowerment!”
What does this mean? Each fear has a gift inside of it – that it’s opposite (on the emotional spectrum) contains some form of Empowerment. For example, if we have a Fear of what others will think of us (of course, very few of us have experienced that fear – Ha ha!) It reflects a perspective that we were looking outside of ourselves for evidence that we are acceptable, worthy and lovable – the opposite end of that fear is loving yourself and knowing that you are worthy of everything you desire in life. The Empowerment contained within this Fear is Self-Love and Respect – knowing that we don’t need other’s approval to feel great about ourselves!
We don’t have to fight our Fear, when we try and overcome it, it stays. In our Spiritual Core we know our Value, we know our Truth. For example, if you are a parent, and a situation arose that threatened your child, you would act from your Full Power to protect them. Fear would not be an issue! This is how you can know that the Empowerment is already within.
This applies to all of our Fears. The Secret to finding the Hidden Treasure within, is to look for the Opposite aspect of what you are fearing – and the Treasure will be revealed!
